Jenny Litz, Ph.D.

Branch Chief

Jenny Litz, Ph.D. is the Branch Chief of the Marine Mammal Branch at the NOAA Fisheries' Southeast Fisheries Science Center. She has more than 20 years of experience in marine mammal research at the Center focused on marine mammal health, contaminants, stranding trends, and population structure. She received her doctorate degree from the University of Miami, Rosenstiel School examining the social structure, genetic structure and organic pollutant levels in resident bottlenose dolphins inhabiting Biscayne Bay, Florida. Some of her past roles have included serving as the onsite coordinator for the Northern Gulf of Mexico Cetacean Unusual Mortality Event and serving on the Natural Resource Damage Assessment Technical Working Group assessing the injury to marine mammals in the Gulf of Mexico following the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. She is currently the Program Manager for the marine mammal portion of the Gulf of Mexico Marine Assessment Program for Protected Species (GoMMAPPS).
