Sustainable Fisheries
Organization  

The Sustainable Fisheries Division of the SEFSC conducts research to determine the distribution and abundance of living marine resources managed under the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act (MSFCMA) and the Atlantic Tunas Convention Act (ATCA).  Scientists collect and analyze fishery dependent and independent data to produce catch and effort and life history information, develop and employ computerized mathematical models to estimate the current status of fishery stocks, present assessment results to appropriate fishery management organizations, and provide advice on possible outcomes of implementing future fishery management options.

The Division is organized into five sections:
