| SEDAR 6 consisted of a review workshop convened January 27 - 30, 2004 to review stock assessments of goliath grouper and hogfish snapper.
The hogfish snapper assessment was prepared under a contract with the State of Florida inititated prior to implementation of SEDAR. However, since the species is managed through the Gulf and South Atlantic Fishery Management Councils, the Councils recommended that the assessment receive an independent SEDAR peer review.
Goliath grouper was originally considered during SEDAR 3. The Data Workshop considered the available data inadequate to conduct a stock assessment. However, the SEDAR 3 Review Workshop identified several additional data sources and recommened reconsidering the possibilities for assessing goliath grouper. Subsequently an assessment was prepared and offered for review.
