Laboratory Specific Standard Operating Procedures
|
|
The
SEFSC Chemical Hygiene Plan contains Standard Operating Procedures
(SOP) relevant to safety and health considerations for common
laboratory activities. These procedures can be found at this Lab Safety link.
At
times, laboratories may have specific hazards which are not addressed
by these general SOPs. Therefore, research groups at various SE
laboratories may need to write their own laboratory specific SOPs. It
may be appropriate to establish the proper procedures for working
with particularly hazardous substances or with equipment which poses
unique hazards. For common laboratory equipment (e.g., centrifuges),
the manufacturer's operation and maintenance manual may serve as, or
supplement, the users SOP.
SEFSC has formatted an on-line Laboratory Specific SOP (below
highlighted) which will be completed and used by all SE
laboratories for SOP development and approval. After completing the
Laboratory Specific SOP, please review it with your appropriate
Chemical Hygiene Officer, then submit by pressing the "Submit By
Email" button at the top of the form. The form will be sent to
the SEFSC ES&H Officer for review and final approval.
